Appointment of Deputy Chief Daniel B. Malloy as Assistant Chief of Police and Chief of Operations

Please join me in congratulating Deputy Chief Daniel B. Malloy on his promotion to Assistant Chief of Police and Chief of Operations.

Assistant Chief Malloy has demonstrated throughout his career a tremendous amount of dedication to the women and men of the United States Capitol Police (USCP). He has exhibited great leadership consistent with USCP core values and always works cooperatively, putting the Department first.

Assistant Chief Malloy joined the USCP in 1985 and has served in many different areas of the Department throughout the ranks. In 1995, Assistant Chief Malloy was promoted to Sergeant after serving as a uniformed officer for 10 years and had assignments in Communications and the Hazardous Devices Section. In 2004, he was promoted to Lieutenant and oversaw the Hazardous Devices Section.

In 2006, Assistant Chief Malloy was promoted to Captain and led operations within the Command Center, specifically as the Watch Commander managing many critical incidents. In 2008, he was again promoted to Inspector and served as the Division Commander of the Hazardous Incident Response Division, overseeing the Hazardous Devices Section and the Hazardous Material Response Team. Along with a team of departmental leaders, he contributed in the design and implementation of campus-wide mail screening operations and emergency response protocols, much of which continue to be utilized to protect the Capitol Complex today.

In 2010, he served as Inspector for the Dignitary Protection Division and in 2011, was assigned as the Inspector of the Capitol Division within the Uniformed Services Bureau. In 2012, Assistant Chief Malloy was promoted to Deputy Chief and became the Bureau Commander of the Operational Services Bureau. Throughout his tenure, Assistant Chief Malloy has gained vast experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and law enforcement partners. His varied experiences and his personal leadership traits will serve the Department and the Congressional community well.

Assistant Chief Malloy holds both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Management from The Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, he is a trained Hazardous Materials Specialist, Bomb Technician, and Crisis Management Specialist.
